From Frank Christian's trail log (aka "Falkor")....

Some info and pictures of Jim Yedinak with his hound Fiadh Fee-Ya, and me and my hound Medb (Mave) backpacking.

Jim and Fiadh spent Sunday night at my house. We organized and packed up ready for Monday morning. It took about 2 hours to drive up to the staging area near 4 mile lake.
We visited 6 lakes on our 22 mile loop hike. Backpacking was new for Fiadh. She quickly learned how to hike on the trail and navigate the wind blown trees and brush across our path.

We caught enough fish at two lakes to have a fish dinner twice. One night there was a thunderstorm very near; lots of thunder claps. The dogs ignored the noise. We had perfect weather and cool temperatures to hike in.

The day we were going to hike about 9 miles, we got up before the sun and finished the hike before noon. The hounds flourished in the cooler temperatures. OH! I should mention. The mosquitoes were in full force. Deet to the rescue. We had full length pants and shirts, and hats with neck shade to help with the mosquitoes. We used a little repellent on the dogs; face and loin. All was good.

We hiked a short distance on the Pacific Crest Trail, and met a few Thru hikers on their trek towards Canada. Our hounds looked like they were having a lot of fun.

Mornings there were a few race track crackerdog episodes.

A big thank you to Jim and Fiadh for making this backpacking trip successful and fun.

Sincerely: Frank Christian - Falkor (my trail name)
